Kingston FC First Team Eliminated

News Release from Kingston FC – October 18th, 2014

The season is over for Kingston FC’s first division pro soccer team – the team lost 2-1 in the Canadian Soccer League semi-final played in bitterly cold and windy conditions in Toronto.

Shawn Brown of Croatia scored first and Croatia hit the cross-bar twice in the first half but when Kingston got the wind Joe Zupo tied it at one.

Croatia pressed most of the way after that and Ante Zikuvic scored one minute before the end of regulation time.

Kingston reserves play their semi-final against Niagara tomorrow (Sunday) evening at Queen’s West Campus.

News Release from Kingston FC – October 15th, 2014

There are eight teams left in the Canadian Soccer League playoffs and two are from Kingston FC, making it the only CSL club left with a chance of a double – a championship victory for both its first and reserve teams.

Kingston’s first team plays its semi-final Saturday, October 18th at 7:00 pm at Mississauga’s Hershey Centre Field against Toronto Croatia, a team it defeated 5-4 in a dramatic comeback three weeks ago. Croatia finished second and Kingston third during the regular season. Kingston FC’s reserves – originally scheduled for Saturday — will now play Niagara United Reserves on Sunday, October 19th at 5:30 pm at Queen’s West Campus field in Kingston..

After losing the first game of the regular season, Kingston FC’s reserves have gone undefeated in the Canadian Soccer League’s Second Division, even as several players moved up to the first division team. As a result, CSL Coach of the Year nominee, Tom Moran from Belleville and six Kingston FC players have been nominated for CSL awards.

Coach Moran has been nominated for CSL 2nd Division coach of the year.

Mademba Ba the team and league’s leading scorer – Ba scored 31 goals in eight games before moving up to the first division — is up for the 2nd Division most valuable player.

Thanks to two third-year veterans Kingston FC’s First Division team is into the Canadian Soccer League’s semi-finals.

Thanks to two newcomers Kingston FC’s Second Division team is semi-final bound along with them.

Saturday evening at Queen’s West Campus Field, Kingston FC and Serbian White Eagles were scoreless after 90 minutes of regulation time in their 1st Division quarter-final encounter, and they were still scoreless after the first 15-minute period of extra time.

It’s sudden death time for both of Kingston FC’s professional soccer teams on Saturday.

Kingston’s reserves – which finished first in the Canadian Soccer League’s second division – and lost only one game all season – play first – at one o’clock at Mary Ann Sills Park in Belleville. Their opponents are Brampton a team they narrowly defeated 2-1 in the final game of the regular season last Sunday.

News Release from Kingston FC – October 6th, 2014

Kingston FC moved into third place in the first division of the Canadian Soccer League with 1-0 win over Brampton in Brampton on Sunday.

The winning goal – by Oussama Slimani – came in the final minute of regulation time after both teams had failed to score for 90 minutes.

The win moved Kingston ahead of North York Astros.

It was Kingston’s third straight dramatic game. The team finished the season by defeating second place Croatia, tying first place York Region and finally defeating Brampton.

The Kingston-Belleville FC Pro Soccer Academy (which will continue the work of the Kingston City Soccer Academy) will shortly be releasing information about the upcoming Spring/Summer Academy soccer programs which run from April to August 2015. The New KBFC Pro Soccer Academy has now announced its first summer program – the 2nd annual Soccer Summer Camp for youngsters 5 up to 16 years of age run in conjunction with Queen’s University Athletics.

Kingston-Belleville FC Pro Soccer Academy will be continuing the success last summer of the Kingston City Soccer Academy, and we look forward to bringing professional soccer development programs to Kingston, Belleville and the region and raising the level of soccer talent using skills and techniques that have won our Club two consecutive Canadian Soccer league championships! Kingston FC Home Field Advantage Secured

News Release from Kingston FC – October 2nd, 2014

Kingston FC’s two soccer teams have clinched home field advantage for the first round of the playoff and the location and times of those first round playoff games have been set.

A week Saturday – October 11th – the reserve team will play at one o’clock at M. A. Sills Park in Belleville. Later that same day – Saturday, October 11th – the first team will play at 6-15 at Queen’s West Campus.

Both games are sudden death and will continue until a winner is decided even if that involves penalty kicks.

After defeating second place Toronto Croatia 5-4 a week ago Kingston FC battled undefeated first place York Region to a 2-2 tie on Saturday.

But Kingston will need a third straight strong performance against Brampton in Brampton this Sunday if they are to have home field advantage in the first round of the playoffs.

The team has booked Richardson Stadium for Sunday October 12th.

News Release from Kingston FC – September 21st, 2014

Kingston FC moved one giant step closer to a home playoff game with a dramatic come-from-behind 5-4 victory over second place Toronto Croatia today (Sunday) at Queen’s West campus.

The win – engineered by a spectacular four goal performance by Mademba Ba – put Kingston into third place in the CSL’s 1st division – two points ahead of fifth place SC Waterloo with a game in hand and just two games left in regular season play. The first four teams get home field advantage in the first round of the playoffs, which begin on October 12th.

Kingston FC plays league leading York Region next Saturday, September 27th in its final regular season home game before heading to Brampton for the last game before the playoffs.
