Double Header Against Waterloo on Sunday

News Release from Kingston FC – June 12th, 2014

Last season Kingston FC finished first in the Canadian Soccer League mainly because they lost just one game at home during the regular season and playoffs.

This season the team has struggled in its opening away games – losing 3-2 to York Region and tying North York 3-3 – but the team won its home opener 2-1 over Niagara and will be trying for is second straight home win Sunday at one o’clock at Queen’s West Campus.

Their opponent is Waterloo the team that defeated Kingston in the CSL playoff final last October.

News Release from Kingston FC – June 8th, 2014

NORTH YORK – Mademba Ba hit the post and crossbar on separate chances after coming on as a substitute late in the second half of Kingston FC‘s 3-3 road draw with the North York Astros.

Both of Ba’s opportunities came after North York rallied back from a 3-1 early second half deficit, tying the game at the 72 minute mark. The draw drops Kingston FC‘s record to 1-1-1 on the year.

News Release from Kingston FC – June 4th, 2014

With a hard fought 2-1 win over Niagara last Saturday, Kingston FC – Kingston’s pro soccer team – is back in the race for first place in the Canadian Soccer League.

The team finished first last season.

The team lost its season opener 3-2 to York Region but bounced back against Niagara.



Kingston plays winless North York Astros in Toronto on Sunday before returning to Kingston and Queen’s a week Sunday for a game against Waterloo – the team that defeated Kingston in the championship playoff final last October.

Kingston FC players have selected three veterans and one newcomer as team captains as they prepare for their home opener Saturday at Queen’s West campus.

The team – which finished first in the Canadian soccer league last season – suffered two disappointing season opener losses in Toronto losing 3-2 and 1-0 to the first and reserve teams of York Region Shooters.

“The 3-2 loss was one of those days.” said team president Joe Scanlon. “We hit the cross-bar once. The referee missed a hand ball in their box – and our keeper slipped on the turf allowing them to tap in their first goal.

Kingston FC chairman Lorne Abugov predicts that his team will repeat this season what seemed unlikely last season – finish first or second in the Canadian Soccer League.

The team’s regular season opens a week from Sunday – May 25th on the road against York Region Shooters. Kingston FC‘s first home game will be Saturday, May 31st against Niagara United SC at Queen’s’ West Campus.

And – Abugov predicts – Kingston FC’s Reserve Division team – which barely made the playoffs in 2013 will also finish at or near the top.

Kingston FC will have a new look on the road but much the same look at home when their 2014 Canadian Soccer League season opens in less than four weeks.

The Club’s away uniforms, which are white with red and navy blue trim, will feature a bold new red logo with white trim and a catchy text phrase.

That’s because Kingston FC has reached agreement with a second 2014 Season Sponsor – FevaTV – a brand new Canadian television channel set to launch this summer. The FevaTV logo – and the slogan “Catch the Feva” – will adorn the team’s away uniform jerseys.

News release from Kingston FC – April 23, 2014

Kingston FC – which finished atop the Canadian Soccer League’s 1st Division last season – will open its 2014 home season on Saturday evening May 31st at 6:45 p.m. at Queen’s West Campus. The game will be preceded by a Kingston FC Reserve Division game at 4:30 p.m. The visitors for the home opener doubleheader will be Niagara United SC.

Kingston FC’s first regular season game will be six days earlier — Sunday, May 25th in Toronto against York Region Shooters, a team which finished tied for second – right behind Kingston – last season.

Eight Players From Open Tryout Invited To Kingston FC Training Camp

Kingston FC’s final open try-out attracted 21 players and eight of them proved good enough to be invited to the club’s training camp which opens next Tuesday, April 22nd.

Although the camp was mainly intended to give local players a chance to impress the coaches, three players showed up from France and two of them were good enough to be invited to attend camp.

NEWS RELEASE FROM KINGSTON FC APRIL 9, 2014

Next week will be “last chance” week for local players who would like to play with Kingston FC this coming season.

The soccer team – the only pro team in any sport between Ottawa and Toronto – is holding a try-out next Wednesday, April 16 and Thursday, April 17 – the last chance for players to be invited to training camp starting April 22.

The try-out is aimed at local players though some internationals are coming.

When Kingston FC opens its training camp on April 22nd most Canadians who played a key role in taking the team to a first place finish in the Canadian Soccer League last season will be back.
