News Release from Kingston FC – September 7th, 2014

After being frustrated for nearly 30 minutes while Waterloo played ball control to protect a 4-0 lead, Kingston FC‘s 1st Division squad finally broke through with two late goals but still lost 4-2.

Waterloo took advantage of a couple of defensive lapses and two corner kicks to run up the 4-0 score in the first half.

After the half, Waterloo kept most of its players back passing the ball around and trying – mostly successfully – to keep the ball away from Kingston.

However at the 74th minute mark, Akil DeFreitas finally scored for Kingston.

Twelve minutes later, as time was running out, Catalin Lichiou scored Kingston’s second goal.

Although Kingston FC’s first team lost, the reserves – who have lost just one game all season – continued their winning ways with a 3-2 win over the SC Waterloo reserves.

Waterloo led 1-0 and 2-1 but Mademba Ba tied the score twice. Corey Faughnan scored the winner with a header late in the second half.

Both Kingston FC teams are on the road again this Saturday when they play a double-header in Toronto against Serbian White Eagles.
