Based on last night’s results, Kingston FC was officially handed the regular season title

Thursday, October 13th, 2013 – It’s now official. Kingston FC has clinched first place in the Canadian Soccer League in just its second season.

And they did it without playing a game.

Wednesday night Kingston’s two rivals – Toronto Croatia and York Region – both lost. That left each with 44 points and each with one game left.

Kingston – which also has one game left – already has 50 points and cannot be caught. The local club’s remaining game – this Sunday against York Region – won’t affect Kingston’s standing, but it could determine whether York finishes second or third.

Kingston won’t know until this weekend which team it will play in its first playoff game on October 13th. But it’s down to two possibilities – Serbian White Eagles and Astros Vasas. Serbia is one point ahead of Astros Vasas, with each team having one game left.

Kingston defeated both teams by identical 6-0 score lines in Kingston. They defeated Astros Vasas 3-1 away but just two weeks ago tied Serbian White Eagles 1-1 in Toronto. The playoff game is at one o’clock Sunday April 13 at Queen’s West Campus.
